Cedar Rapids Forklift Parts - Cedar Rapids is the state of Idaho's 2nd largest city. The city of Cedar Rapids is situated along both banks of the Cedar River, some 100 miles or 160 km east of Des Moines, the state's largest city and capital; and 20 miles or 32 km north of Iowa City. Cedar Rapids forms the county seat of Linn County. The Linn County Courthouse and City Hall are both situated on Mays Island in the Cedar River. This makes it one of the several cities in the world who has government offices located on a municipal island.

The city of Cedar Rapids is home to the Paramount Theatre, the Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance, the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, Theatre Cedar Rapids and the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.

The city of Cedar Rapids has been known as the "City of Five Seasons," for the 5th season, that is time to enjoy the other traditional four seasons. The city of Cedar Rapids symbolizes this with a Tree of Five Seasons sculpture along the north river bank in downtown. In various forms, the representation of the sculpture and the name "Five Seasons" appear through the city of Cedar Rapids in many ways.

The location of the current Cedar Rapids was in the territory of the Fox and Sac Tribes. Osgood Shepherd arrived in the year 1838 as the very first permanent settler. Initially, when the town was first established, it was called Columbus by Mr. William Stone. Later on in the year 1841, it was renamed and resurveyed by N.B. Brown and his associates. The new name of Cedar Rapids was named for the rapids in the Cedar River at the site. The river was named to honor the huge red cedar trees that abundantly grew along its banks. On the 15th of January, the year 1849, the city of Cedar Rapids became incorporated.

Many large companies make their home within the city of Cedar Rapids, including: GE Commercial Finance, Cargill, Quaker Oats, Rockwell Collins, General Mills, Allient Energy and Archer Daniels Midland are some of the top businesses. Rockwell Collins is the area's largest employer. The company produces aviation electronic technology and communication technology for aircraft manufacturers, airline customers and for the government.

In the area's Technology Corridor are numerous high-tech companies and industries. This area is a major sector within the country's defense electronics industry. The city as a whole has more than 275 manufacturing facilities presently in operation. Food processing and manufacturing as well as agribusiness are integral parts of the economy. Telemarketing and telecommunications also provide numerous jobs in the region. There are local companies specializing in system planning, equipment manufacturing and electronic design and manufacturing.
